Notes from Old Self III

October 16, 2008

The Morrell Girls turned one year old on September 25, 2008. My hope is that we never forget any of our first year, good & bad. First of all, because it is all a treasure. Our girls are living reminders of God’s answered prayers. Second of all, because I hope it prevents us from wanting more kids. I mean going through this again five (or 4,3, or 2) years from now? Come on! Note to Old Self:  Did you ever imagine you would be a single mom to young, young triplets, a foster mom to a baby....and love motherhood so much?  Wish I could tell you things weren't so tough back then!  And that you would one day love having more babies around.

We celebrated with a wonderful party surrounded by almost all of our family and many of our friends. It was a wonderful time as we were able to see our children interacting with many of the people who have prayed for them and/or helped us throughout the year. A strange thing happened several times throughout the day, I had to look around for my kids! They were being passed around all afternoon, and the best part was that they loved it and I found myself empty handed a few times.

A wise neighbor said to me, “Don’t forget these times, don’t rush these times…THESE are the Good ‘Ol Days.” And that’s how we live. We work hard, play hard and fall into bed with some great memories from the day. And I love our memories…God set it up just right…the bad ones fade and the good ones shine like the best of times, somehow getting better with age.

The difficulties change, and we change. I am no longer so cautious (note the so). We spent our first afternoon at another triplet mom’s house who lives around the corner . It was wonderful (she’s very gracious) and gave me lots of hope for doing normal things like going to the park by ourselves, going to storytime at the library and mommy & me & me & me classes.
Daddy is doing very well at work and continues to be the best husband and best dad girls could ever ask for.

God has truly blessed us, we are so very thankful for His continued provision, love and hope.

With love and blessings,
